CHOKH ROSSO

Chokh is the oldest settlement in the North Caucasus. Coming here, many travelers want to join the unique culture, clear their minds, see natural and historical monuments.

Aksakal is the head of the clan, an elder, a respectable elderly man - a bearer of ethnosubcultural identity in the aul.

Like the aksakal, we want to carry through the project the cultural code of the aul, emphasizing its importance in the culture of Dagestan.

Aksakal is a guide from the past to the future through the present.

Now Dagestan is one of the most popular tourist destinations. In connection with the closure of the borders, tourists began to actively explore the territory of the country. With the opening of new territories, the question of tourist services arose, which must be offered to travelers.

Unfortunately, in the village of Chokh, with its long history, there is almost nothing for comfortable tourism. Due to the weak infrastructure, tourists consider Chokh only as an intermediate point on the route, missing out  the opportunity to see the natural beauty of the place and plunge into the history of Dagestan.

We were faced with a difficult task: to create a unique authentic atmosphere that would combine the diversity of modern leisure activities and the identity of indigenous peoples with their ethnic customs and traditions.

The landscape became both the complexity and at the same time the main feature of the project.

Chokh is located in a mountainous area, and the relief  differs throughout the village. Local residents perfectly fit the houses into the existing landscape: dwellings and rocks seemed to merge into one architectural composition, in which it is impossible to distinguish boundaries.

The architecture, traditional for mountain dwellings, is still preserved here. It is represented by stepped buildings, usually of 2-3 floors. Arches, curved windows and glazed verandas are important elements of the traditional architecture.

We have embodied the entire rich history of the place in a perfect modern design.

In the project of a boutique hotel in the Chokh village, we used the usual village forms (arches), materials and colors. So for the future tourists, we have preserved the cultural code and spirit of the place.

Due to the mountainous terrain, the answer to the question of how to arrange the houses in order to achieve maximum privacy was found by itself.

Bungalows are located in a cascade, each new level of rooms rises above the other. All houses received an excellent view from the windows, and a private area where you can comfortably spend a weekend or vacation.

Points of attraction for guests are evenly distributed throughout the territory. Their peculiarity is that wherever the guest goes, he will be haunted by a magnificent view of the Chokh, mountains and nature.

In such places, the hand itself reaches for the phone to take a photo to Instagram.

The boutique hotel was originally a family home. The layout of the rooms was not designed for a large number of people. We have revised the layout, placing the hotel rooms in a non-trivial way.

The calculation of the potential of the territory is an important stage in the design of the architectural concept. Despite the small area, we managed to fill the place with activities that will be of interest not only to guests, but also to tourists passing by.

In addition to the main house, the project includes bungalows, several baths, an amphitheater, a campfire overlooking the sunset and even a special area for weddings. Imagine how much you could fit without compromising the comfort of your guests.

It is not enough to create a design project for a hotel; first of all, it is necessary to think over a competitive advantage that will distinguish it from the background of other hotels.

This advantage can be realized in a service, unique services, or in an advantageous location. Or maybe - in the architectural concept.

For the project of a boutique hotel in the village of Chokh, a unique concept of air piers was developed, there are no analogues of such a solution.

The air pier is an observation deck, where unique views of the nature of Dagestan open on the sides and in front. On such piers, nothing interferes with the view, and you can enjoy the moment of unity with nature.

Often, nature itself suggests creative solutions: this idea was realized thanks to the stepped relief and competent planning of buildings on the territory of the hotel.
