The architectural ensemble was built in 1824 according to the project of the architect M.P. Malakhov. For a long time, the Verkh-Isetsky hospital was located on the territory of today's multifunctional complex, the buildings of which are an object of cultural heritage of regional significance. For almost two hundred years, the territory where the center is now located has been a link between old Yekaterinburg and the village of Verkh-Isetsk. Centuries later, the architectural ensemble, through renovation, not only acquired a new status, but also retained a synthesizing role in the urban environment, becoming a modern art space designed to change the cultural landscape of the city.
The modern complex consists of four buildings and an open courtyard. The main building - a two-story building with two side wings and a dome - was formerly a hospital. Sinara Center is a cultural point of attraction for the city of Yekaterinburg. We were faced with the task of creating an up-to-date modern interior, while at the same time paying tribute to the historical past of the building.
The main building of the Sinara Center is intended for various events.
Our goal was to make the hall multifunctional, suitable for both social cultural events and banquets.
We have created a "shell" for the event hall, which can be easily transformed into any function with the help of furniture. Respecting the history of the building, we left the moldings and stucco on the walls, painting them in the color of the walls, but highlighting them with lighting. Rounded corners and deliberately large radii give interior solutions a more contemporary character.
We added caissons decorated with rosettes, highlighting the volume and proportions of the existing dome. The programmable lighting system of many glowing balls also reflects the structure of the domed space and expresses the general idea of the whole project: a harmonious combination of the past and the present.
The spiral staircase is one of the accents of the central building. For decoration, brass was used - a bright and self-sufficient material.
Several types of luminaires were used to illuminate the cultural center: brass sconces on the walls and columns, which are a modern interpretation of antique chandeliers, and radial niches with directional lights to maintain the visual height of the ceilings, as well as an emphasis on rounded elements.
The new building - a three-storey classicist building - was built from scratch and attached to the wing. Thanks to this, it was possible to fit it into the overall composition of the ensemble. Now, most of the activities of the entire Sinara Center are concentrated inside the new building: galleries of temporary and permanent exhibitions, a historical hall, a concert hall, a shop and the wing itself as part of the exhibition space.
The family-run Italian restaurant is located in a separate building in the western wing. The cozy and simple atmosphere of the pinсeria is complemented by a dome made of wooden structures that descend into the space of the second light with a composition of volumetric wooden chandelier
